General Election
A General Election is the election in which federal and state officers, members of Congress and of the general assembly, county and township officers, and other officers appear on the ballot. General Elections are held the 1st Tuesday after the 1st Monday in November of each even-numbered year.

General Election – Absentee Ballot Information

 

The deadline to return a voted absentee ballot is Election Day by 8:00 pm in the Wapello County Auditor’s Office.  POSTMARKS DON’T COUNT

The Wapello County Auditor’s Office will be open on the following Saturday:

November 2, 2024 from 9:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. 

For further information, contact the Wapello County Auditor’s Office at 641-683-0020 between 8:00 a.m. and 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday.

 

Voter Eligibility Requirements:

To vote in this election one must be a U.S. citizen, a registered voter in the county in which one lives & be 18 years of age.

Voter Pre-Registration Deadline: October 21, 2024 by 5 p.m.

Pre-Registered Voters, Voters who are registering on Election Day, Pending Voters and Voters Changing Precincts on Election Day will need to prove identity and residency by using one or more of the forms below.

Proof of Identity

Iowa Driver’s License (not expired more than 90 days)

Iowa Non-operator’s ID (not expired more than 90 days)

U.S. Passport (not expired)

U.S. Military or Veteran ID (not expired)

Iowa Voter Identification Card (must be signed)

Tribal ID Card/Document

(must be signed, with photo, not expired)

                             Proof of Residence

(must include name and current address and be current within 45 days; may be in an electronic format or on paper)

Residential lease  

Utility bill, including a cell phone bill

Bank statement

Paycheck

Government check

Other government document

Property tax statement (current within 45 days of final payment date)

Voters who are unable to show ID (or prove residence if required) may have their identities attested to by another registered voter in the precinct or have the right to cast a provisional ballot.  Election Day Registrant attesters must also show ID.  Call the Wapello County Auditor’s Office @ 641-683-0020 with any questions or concerns.
